It was still pitch black you were gone in the morning
I got up whenever and I laid on the couch
No one's at the table so I ate at by the TV
There was no conversation so I stared at the screen
I'm starting to think
That there's nothing for me to hold on to
I'm starting to fall
Without ever really wanting get up
And I can't sleep an hour just before the alarm
And I'll leave and return and you'll still be gone
I can't write the song cause you said it was wrong
And I can't see your face anymore in our place
I'm starting to fail
Before I ever even get out of bed anymore
I'm starting to dream
About days that we barely just made it through
It was still pitch black you were gone in the morning
I got up whenever then laid on the couch

The Same People

Started shouting and I broke up your party
Walking home from the bus with a shiner
Snuck out with keys and a full tank
Made you late and I don't wanna answer
I know I'm always such a disappointment
I know you never really thought me through
I'm over sensitive you question my preferences
I didn't listen now my cards overdrawn
Got distracted for an hour at the bookshelf
Put it off now your bailing me out
I never call till I need you to buy things
You see the errors but I don't want your help
I break down when you make a suggestion
Delete your message and reject your world view
You know we're always someone's disappointment you can tell we never thought this through

Cmon Over

The day is shot dead it's still alive inside your head
you flipped the deck and tape is still all wrecked
damn
The city comes alive and you begin to revive
Park the car and walk before someone can talk
C'mon over
Y'hands can't feel and now you know the fake is real
it's not allowed but now just want to see a crowd
Design is not refined got too much on the line
Not like in school there's no backup or easy rules
C'mon over
in the end it all was true just weekends and you
don't fall asleep when 'Mary Chains are on repeat

Night Light

Just got dark house lights thrown on the lawn. Colder than i thought now it's easier to breathe. Wrapped in the fog hide my face in the collar. I said I'm fine I'm just out for a walk.
So pull it down tight heading out for awhile. Beautiful at nightfall thru a dark dark tunnel. Shuffle through the leaves, I'm farther than you thought, street lights ahead warm bed behind.
Never thought we'd stay this long, I see the shapes in the fog then their gone. I hear the freeway through the trees and I stumble. Street lights burned out now there's no path home.
Passing Windows on a street from ten years ago. Some bright others shrouded in blight. Moved on an impulse moved out with a motive. A straight path forward in a plan ending here.
You won't freeze up if your feet keep moving. There's no concern till there's something to lose. There's no regret before there's a story. There's no doubt till the end is in sight
